I’m Anchitha (she/her), a Bangalore based counselling psychologist. I identify as a cis-het woman from a small town in Karnakata who is now adapted to the urban metro city. I have a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Journalism and English literature. I’m fluent in English and Kannada.
I’m passionately committed to understand and explore human nature with curiosity, compassion and empathy. I strongly hold values of social justice, ethical practice, inclusivity, compassion and connection on which my practice is founded.
When I’m not musing about humans and psychology, I express myself through art and poetry. I love gardening, cooking and indulging in nature. You can also find me at open mics on the weekends, singing contemporary bollywood or at a flea market picking up bohemian dresses.
In my journey as a mental health professional, I have completed 1300+ individual counselling sessions with younger and older adults across India and overseas with the issues related to developmental and childhood trauma, family issues, grief, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, workplace concerns, relationship issues, gender and sexuality, to name a few. Apart from individual counselling, I have curated and delivered workshops, webinars, courses, support groups on various aspects of mental health. I have developed employee wellness support groups and worked closely on employee assistance programs.
After my failed attempts at finding the right therapist, I found Anchitha . My first session with her made me realise how actually a therapist should be . She is professional and empathetic. She played a huge role in the person that I have become now. I was going through a sort of identity crisis, she made me self-aware, taught me boundaries are healthy and calming grounding techniques. I am much more confident in my own skin, in handling my emotions and able to differentiate my needs from others. I would highly recommend her, she is the best!
I started therapy with Anchitha a year ago. I was initially hesitant to start therapy as I wondered how I would connect with a stranger. However, Anchitha was able to create a virtual safe and non judgemental space for me. I discovered my triggers, and started processing my emotions gradually. She gave me the tools to hone my strengths, create safe boundaries and to be more compassionate towards my own self. I truly value the support Anchitha provides as a mental health practitioner!
My sessions with Anchitha have helped me identify that I was carrying a lot of trauma from my childhood which I was unaware of. Further it also helped me understand why something works or doesn’t work for me. This has been a wholesome understanding across my personal and professional life. She has been patient and has guided me to probe the right directions and also put me at ease whenever I was very anxious.
I have been taking therapy sessions from Anchitha for the past 5 months. I have identified my core issues and the basis for these issues. She has been of great help in understanding my associated emotions and identifying the patterns of my anxiety and anger issues. I am also able to connect with Anchitha which was a big deal for me before I joined therapy.
